I love the music on Serenade Radio, it takes me right back to my childhood. I partially enjoy Sonia Beldom weekdays from 22:00-midnight. I wonder if we could hear some songs sung by Ivor Immanuel? I remember a tv programme called, Land of Song, I think, in which he sang. He is probably best known for singing Men of Harlech in the film Zulu.
Sonia Beldom on 5 December 2025
Hi Christine, Lovely that you enjoy the show in the evenings. I’ll check out our Serenade Radio music library for Ivor Immanuel. Keep listening … you never know what we’re going to play next. S x
Josie on 29 November 2025
Hi from David and Josie in North Wales, we have just discovered Serenade radio, loving spending Saturday morning in bed listening to you with a cup of tea . Looking forward to tuning in much much more 😊
George on 29 November 2025
Great to know I’m not alone in waking up with Ed and Steve on Saturday and Sunday mornings, they’re both such good company and then there’s the music of course! Looking forward to Jeff next as he never ceases to make me snigger, a lot. 🤭 Thanks to everyone at the station.
Adrian on 29 November 2025
Not forgetting Sean and Johnny overnight. A true team effort!
Nancy on 1 December 2025
Hear, hear!
Kate Dudley on 28 November 2025
This Thanksgiving I am thankful for Serenade Radio for sure. The time difference makes things interesting (Big Ben at midnight) but the curated content is a blessing in my life.
Amilton on 27 November 2025
My name is Amilton and I’m from Brazil. I’ve been listening non-stop to Serenade Radio since I found out about it. I’m really enjoying it. You play exactly the kind of music I love listening. Thank you for the good taste!!!
Fraser Sutherland on 25 November 2025
Re: ‘Soft Folkus’ with Roger Williams (23/11/25).
It was one of those Serenade moments; Kate and Anna McGarrigle singing ‘Complainte pour Ste-Cathérine’.
Stop everything. Head inclined to phone. Pure concentration. Real joy. ‘Rapt’, I think is the word.
Is there anything better than the Franco-Canadian singing-in-French voice? Not in my small world!
Last thought. Parts of the song reminded me of a Violeta Parra composition. Thanks for your choice and for your show Roger. Great moment.
Roger Williams on 27 November 2025
Fraser!
Thank you so much for your kind comments. Kate and Anna together are very special aren’t they?
There’ll be more French Canadian music this week – but it won’t be quite so mellifluous!
And… as for Violeta? You never know!
Roger
Barbara Heathcote on 23 November 2025
Thank you so much Johnny Beerling for playing Gene Krupa Drummin Man for me, enjoyed your programme tonight, certainly got the feet tapping. See you next week
Kevin at KAB on 22 November 2025
Would be nice to hear elvis costello’s version of My Funny Valentine. He did this with acoustic guitar back in 1978. you can find it on the “taking liberties” album and also on a Radar 45.
Martyn Bassey on 22 November 2025
Many thanks to Sean Usher and Johnny Mac for the great music on The Night Shift. I look forward to hearing their shows every Saturday morning. Good to hear Nilsson as featured singer this week (thanks Nancy). Fab! 👍😊
Nancy on 22 November 2025
Hello Martyn! Of all the programs I enjoy on SR I think ‘A Little Night Music’ is one of the best. Fab indeed!
Nancy on 22 November 2025
Oh my. First, the wonderful Gerry Marsden and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, Then Artist of the Week Harry Nilsson chasing rainbows followed by Nat King Cole and ‘Portrait of Jenny’. I’m smiling and sighing with delight.
Now if I can just pick the right mystery year…
Barbara Heathcote on 21 November 2025
Hi John Darvall. Thank you for playing “And I Love you so” when it was released by Perry Como it became mine and late hubby’s song, reflected both our lives. Also you played our Vic as well. Xx
Barbara Heathcote on 20 November 2025
Hi Andy. Thank you for playing my Vic Damone on your programme , And this is my Beloved, from Kismet which Vic was in. Not exactly a great actor but gorgeous to look at ❤️. Serenade radio has introduced me to some new singers eg Vic Dana and Jerry Vale who I’d not heard before, unless from my childhood radio days and I’d forgotten. Plus I’ve been listening to other presenters’ programmes during the day instead of doing housework. 🤣.
Teresa Fitz on 20 November 2025
Why has Sonia Beldom suddenly started talking all over the end of the music she’s playing?…..hopefully its just a temporary sync glitch and not a new presentation style..
Sonia Beldom on 22 November 2025
Hi Teresa, Thank you for pointing this out. Yes, you’re right, it’s a teeny glitch and great that you bothered to let us know. Hopefully it hasn’t spoiled your listening v pleasure. All the best, Sonia x
Catherine B on 20 November 2025
Hi Andy, Just reminded me listening to your Bit of Nonsense just now, why not try a few of Paddy Roberts’ wonderful, clever ditties? Used to listen to him with my mother on the Light Programme in the 60s and I’m sure a lot of your “younger” listeners may not have heard of him. I hope I’m not the only oldie to remember him.
Walt Smith on 19 November 2025
For John Darville,
I enjoy your programs very much. I listen in the US from 10 pm to midnight Eastern Standard Time. One suggestion is that you might review the artist names that have just played more frequently. My app usually lags and I can’t see who just did a song I like. Thank you!
Tony Holden on 16 November 2025
A famous comedian once said, ” leave them wanting more” it was certainly the case with Jonny Bealings Big Band Show tonight, ending his program with the stiring American patrol, definitely ensured l will back next Sunday at six.
Earlier on in the programme l remembered the excitement and emotional feelings in I’m in love for the very first time. Many years ago that’s what l like about Serenade radio, the songs often bring back half forgotten memories of yesteryears when performers could sing and you could hear word.
Michael on 16 November 2025
Definitely, definitely my kind of radio – my kind of songs, singers, orchestras and music!!! The music of true romance, … true serenades and harmony for hearts and souls … for dancing and celebrating life… the music that touches deeply inside the hearts… Beautiful music that brings hope for the better world and brings people close together… The music that brings the best in us – idealism, the sense of romance, love for each other… What a beautiful music! Thanks to all who carefully choose and prepare it with the good taste!
Ralph Stroud on 15 November 2025
I’ve just enjoyed another couple of hours in the delightful company of Jeff Owen (Saturday morning, 10-noon)
What a shame there is no catch-up. I love his choice of music and his paper reviews. The jokes are great too, you need to pay attention to the records to get the references to yellow rivers and candida but its well worth it.
Anybody who hasn’t caught his show should make a mark on the calendar for next Saturday.
Cheers.
Nancy on 15 November 2025
Got in late to A Little Night Music tonight – so happy to hear ‘Lady Godiva’ (easy mystery year finally). Also, love love love Sinatra’s ‘Angel Eyes’. Cheers to Johnny and the gang!
Johnny Mac, A Little Night Music on 15 November 2025
Angel Eyes is such a beautiful and poignant song, Nancy. Thank you for tuning in from across the seas.
Sandra on 14 November 2025
What a brilliant programme this week Paul and James, such a good selection of foot tappers, absolutely wonderful.Thank you.
Paul Ruddock on 15 November 2025
Thank you Sandra, that’s very kind of you.
Producer James and I are both chuffed you enjoyed last night’s Swingin’ Easy – it’s always a lot of fun putting the show together.
Keep those feet tapping!
Paul
Karen on 14 November 2025
A few weeks ago during on the town Mark Steyn mentioned a book by Herbert Kretzmer which was a compilation of the famous people interviews that he did as a journalist. He also mentioned it was good, so when I saw an old library copy in a charity shop I snapped it up. I am loving it, so thank you for mentioning it Mark. I had no idea he was a journalist as well as being a lyricist.
Mark Steyn on 15 November 2025
Glad you like it, Karen – and you’re very fortunate to have found a copy. Herbie wrote a lot over the years, and always to a very high standard. The point he makes in that short Sinatra piece about the difference between Frank and Bing is very sharp.
Sam Watt on 13 November 2025
Steyn’s song of the week today was excellent!! Who knew Robert Mitchum sang?? And the presentation about Cass Elliott was so great. You have a way with words Mr Steyn, you tell the story and bring new life to the song of the week. Bravo 👏👏👏 sir! Best from Cape Cod MA USA
Mark Steyn on 15 November 2025
Very kind of you, Sam. I do like to play Robert Mitchum warbling once in a while. But one day we must do that one about the taste of a lobster stew served by a window with an ocean view…
Steve in Worcs. (England, not MA, USA) on 18 November 2025
Especially if you’re fond of sand dunes, and salty air?
Karen on 12 November 2025
Thank you for the great twaddle today. So lovely to hear the wonderful and much missed Terry Wogan .
Mark Eyre on 12 November 2025
Hi Andy, absolutely loved Judith Durham singing Love Song, beautiful voice, thanks.
Ray on 9 November 2025
I’ve been listening to Sonia’s morning show where she has been playing Dean Martin as album of the week. I’d like to congratulate her on a fantastic choice and now I’ve bought a vinyl copy, what a great find. thank you Sonia for finding one that got away.
Serenade Radio on 9 November 2025
Hi Ray, the ‘Album of the Week’ is introduced on Sundays on Kevin Taylor’s ‘Home of the Stars’. Then our weekday presenters, Andy Marriott, Sonia Beldom, David Yarnall & John Darvall play a different track from the current AOTW every day. We’re pleased we introduced you to something that you liked so much you bought the record!
Sonia Beldom on 10 November 2025
Hi Ray. Much though I’d love to take the credit, our album of the week is introduced by our Kevin Taylor on a Sunday night. So pleased you’re enjoying it and have a precious vinyl to add to your collection. Thank you for taking the time to write in and keep listening and loving it. Sonia x
Paula Taylor (Exeter, UK) on 8 November 2025
Many thanks to Johnny Beerling in advance of the fifth anniversary of Big Band Special tomorrow 9th Nov. 2025!
Especially for playing some of the best british bands of the past.
From a devoted listener of Serenade Radio since it’s inception (Tkx Andrew)
Karen on 8 November 2025
Great show today Johnny . Loved Petula Clark as artist of the week , my go to ‘singing into the hair brush in front of the mirror’ artist when I was growing up! Little Johnny and I got all the mystery years too. Thanks for another great 3 hours.
Johnny Mac, A Little Night Music on 10 November 2025
Ah, I used to play (acoustic) ‘air guitar’ on a tennis racket to many an old tune, but never had much need for a hairbrush! Thank you, Karen, for being out there.
Nancy on 8 November 2025
Thank you for the Elkie Brooks selection Johnny Mac. What a distinctive voice she has!
Tao Kanada on 7 November 2025
Will you repeating the poem we heard of this morning? Is it the Serenade Radio poem? Will you publish it please?
Sonia Beldom on 8 November 2025
Hello Tao. I’m glad you liked the poem on Friday’s show. Here it is for you.
“Friday’s here, the week is done,
And haven’t we had lots of fun?
Music, mirth and silly jokes,
From wonderful women and brilliant blokes.
Lots of music loved and played,
Have a happy weekend with Serenade.”
Keep listening and loving it and remember … tell all your friends to tune in.

Philip Burton on 6 November 2025
Just heard the first part of Happiness Is A thing Called Jo. Marvellous! It’s the sort of well researched programme BBC Radio 2 should be doing. Well Done to Kevin Taylor, Neil Anthony and Serenade Radio.
Neil Anthony on 7 November 2025
Thanks for your nice comments Philip. It has been a labour of love, especially for Kevin who did such a great job narrating the series. Stay with us till Christmas for the rest of the series, there’s much more good stuff to come.
Barbara Heathcote on 6 November 2025
Hi John missed most of your show this afternoon due to visitors and I’d missed Wayne Newton, Games that Lovers play. He’s rarely played and I did have his albums many years ago. Another song is Moon Over Naples to the tune of Spanish Eyes, if you can find it sometime please.
Steve in Worcs. on 6 November 2025
How fantastic! 😁
Just heard an announcement by the great Kevin Taylor of a 7-part series on the fabulous Jo Stafford, starting tonight qt 9:30 pm (U.K.)
This is terrific news – thank you!
Neil Anthony on 7 November 2025
Hope you enjoyed the show Steve. There’s plenty more good stuff to come in the following weeks, so stay tuned for some real musical gems ahead!
Steve in Worcs. on 7 November 2025
Hello Neil,
Thank you for your splendid reply, but…
Around 9:15 last night, I received a WhatsApp call from lovely No.4 niece….in California. Usually a lunchtime (-8 hours) either Thursday or Sunday – trust my luck! As Andy said this morning, “if you missed it, that’s a shame’, so clearly no repeat. Ah well, there are 6 more episodes, so I shall
revel in those!
Kevin at KAB on 4 November 2025
Another 30 days, another 10 pound donation. Thankyou. But, please come back to Twitter. Your page has languished for over a year now, and you have 1800 followers that would lover to hear from you again.
Serenade Radio on 5 November 2025
Hi Kevin thank you for your continued support it is much appreciated.
When Twitter became X our account was blocked and we weren’t allowed to post unless we provided all sorts of information and paid to be ‘verified’. As the platform wasn’t working very well for the type of content we post we decided to walk away.
We still post daily with programme details and other information to both Instagram and Facebook where we have a lovely community of over 4000 followers. we do hope you can join us over there.

Mark Steyn
Just finished listening to this evening’s show and felt I must thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable and informative programme. The only problem is that the hour goes too quickly!
Nancy on 1 November 2025
Mark Steyn’s On The Town followed by Adrian Jackson’s Showstoppers today gave 2 hours of pure enjoyment! Bravo gentlemen!
Mark Steyn on 7 November 2025
That’s very kind of you, Graham. It’s a fun show to put together – even when laid low by ill health, as I have been these last couple of weeks. And it’s such a pleasure to be part of this station – as opposed to, say, the BBC, which has a century of treasures in its archives and never plays any of it.
Nancy on 7 November 2025
God bless and keep you Mark, you are a treasure!
Martyn Bassey on 1 November 2025
Many thanks to Sean Usher and Johnny Mac for such fabulous music and entertainment during the early hours of Saturday morning. Great choices for the mystery years, and I enjoyed the Art Garfunkel songs (thanks Nancy) 😊.
Nancy on 1 November 2025
Prego Martyn! Johnny’s shows have been terrific – maybe his move to Ireland is having an effect?
Johnny Mac, A Little Night Music on 1 November 2025
There’s definitely something in the air, if not the water! Thank you, GEMS.
Nancy on 1 November 2025
Johnny Mac you picked the perfect song by Art Garfunkel – “I Believe”. Lovely voice, lovely song! Your (out of sync time wise) program started perfectly as all the trick-or-treaters stopped coming ’round for goodies. Happy Halloween 🎃 (here), Happy All Saints Day (there)😇
Sandra Grant on 30 October 2025
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Thank you at Serenade radio for the lovely music, gentle humour and feeling of well being you restore to me ❤️

Love The Hurricanes so thank you Serenade. Who is the nice lady presenter? We are a family from Tokyo and found you this day. Good music.

Hi Tao we are glad you found us. The presenter was Sonia Beldom, she is on Serenade every weekday from 10-12 UK time.
Catherine B on 25 October 2025
Thank you Mark for a superb programme today. What a wonderful talent Al Jolson was. The radio clips were delightful, as was Frank’s sextet, I love to hear his ‘young’ voice. Don’t know where those 60 minutes went.
Mark Steyn on 27 October 2025
Thank you, Catherine. Glad you enjoyed it. I like all phases of Sinatra’s singing, and we try to cover the spectrum. But you know who shares your love of Frank’s “young” voice? Nancy (junior). As the years go by, she loves above all else the purity of her dad’s vocal tone in the Forties. Hard to disagree.
Nancy on 25 October 2025
Great songs on A Little Night Music tonight Johnny Mac!
Johnny Mac, A Little Night Music on 26 October 2025
Thank you, Nancy – and one of your nominations is our artist of the week for next Saturday’s A Little Night Music!
Chris Hitchcock. Dublin. on 24 October 2025
On John Darvall’s program today I heard a rousing version Whiskey in The Jar. I missed the back announcement of the group featured. John could satisfy my curiosity please. Great selection of music for the afternoon.
Karen on 25 October 2025
Hi Chris
It was a live recording by Roger Whittaker . It stuck in my head at the time so i looked it up. It is apparently a traditional Irish folk song with roots back to the 17th century. It is also known as Kilgary Mountain. And there was me thinking Phil Lynott wrote it !!
Marijke and Corné on 22 October 2025
Hello dear music lovers! You play such wonderful music from the old days. We’ve been music lovers for over 50 years, enjoying old jazz, big bands, and evergreens from the 50s and 60s. We listen to your music a large part of the day. Fantastic. With kind musical greetings from the Netherlands.
Simon Ingham on 20 October 2025

Another rip roaring performance from the Banjoliers this morning on ‘Music While You Work’. Troise, the founder of the Mandoliers and Banjoliers would be extremely proud of the way Jack Mandel took over the Banjoliers to contnue his success.

Richard and Karen on 12 October 2025
Loving these tunes..keep e’m coming thank you sooo much xx
Paul on 12 October 2025
Hello, Literally just discovered your station this morning. What a wonderful way to be eased into a Sunday morning.
It’s like being woken up gently with a nice cup of tea and slice of toast, unlike many mainstream stations where it’s like being woken up with a cold bucket of water being thrown over you.
Growing up, Sundays were always about “oldies” on the radio. I didn’t appreciate it much then but it’s obvious to me that more “current” music won’t be played or revered with the same affection in 40/50 years time.
Fraser Sutherland on 12 October 2025
Listening to Pixie Williams sing ‘Maori Rhythm’ is wonderful at any time. Even more so midway through Mark Steyn’s ‘ On the Town’ on a dark gathering autumn dawn. Sheer pleasure. That was memorable.
Mark Steyn on 13 October 2025
Thank you, Fraser. I love Pixie’s voice. Wish she was better known among her Commonwealth cousins.
Sharon Lane on 11 October 2025

Hearing your reference to the wonderful Matt Ford being the icing on the programme, I feel very privilege to know Matt, so pleased he is the great success he is! Keep playing the music we love so much!
John Walton on 10 October 2025
Thanks for your very positive comments, Judy. They’re much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the Matt Ford moment. He has a unique style that refreshes the quality songs he performs, and I’m certain we’ll be playing more of his recordings in future editions of New Voices. Thanksagain for your feedback.

Thank you, lovely to hear you enjoyed it! A very good version by the SWF Orchestra!
Dave in London on 9 October 2025
SWF – one of the German regional public broadcasters? Happy memories of tuning to SWF and other mediumwave stations after dark in search of music. I think those German regionals used to combine for the all-nighter ‘Music Through Till Early Morning’ bringing the delights of Caterina Valente, Freddy Quinn and Peter Alexander. It was a long time ago.
Nancy on 4 October 2025
Mark Steyn’s On The Town program today is an absolute jewel of music and anecdotes. Bravo sir.
Fraser Sutherland on 5 October 2025
Seconded Nancy. This 75 th edition celebrating Herbert Kretzmer flew by ( time really flies when you’re enjoying yourself). For my part I really enjoyed the discussion of the sheer expertise required to write a lyric to the notes. Superb. Btw every contribution in the programme somehow uplifted one’s spirits. Thanks Mark Steyn. Looking forward to ‘On The Town’ 150!

Good Soft Folkus show yet again last night, still really wish Serenade could be on DAB,but no major problem. Roger was kind enough to furnish me with his email personally, but being the dumbohead that I am, never did note it down. Have a great almost samhain season at S.R. towers!!

Yes it’s great when a song jogs our memories and takes us to a different time. Thanks for listening. Regards, Vic
Elizabeth Lorenz on 29 September 2025
I love all of Mark Steyn’s offerings. Please keep them coming.
Nick Hingley on 27 September 2025
Having a hectic few days so my listening to Serenade is limited; however a mention for bassist Danny Thompson who has passed away aged 86 and thus might be marked. Danny collaborated with too many artists too mention (amongst them John Martyn and Nick Drake (on the latter’s ‘Five Leaves Left’ album)) but is notable as being a member of Pentangle. Perhaps in his memory an outing of ‘Light Flight’ (Theme from BBC’s ‘Take Three Girls’) with his superb playing on the double bass.
Roger Williams on 28 September 2025
An extraordinary musician whose passing I could not ignore. Four tracks in tonight’s Soft Folkus featured this musical giant. In truth, my tribute was a little superficial, I’m contemplating a more considered appreciation of his work later in the year,
Barry Carter on 27 September 2025
I enjoy Paul Ruddock’s gentle, natural presentation and his great selection of songs – all swinging (“If it swings, I’ll play it”) – but still with variety, and from different times. It’s a lovely conclusion to a Friday evening!
Paul Ruddock on 27 September 2025
Thank you for your kind words Barry and for listening in each week – it’s great to know you’re enjoying all these swinging tunes! Stay tuned for more next week, same time, same place.
Paul
Martyn Bassey on 27 September 2025
I turned the volume right up on my headphones when Mack The Knife came on 🎧 😊. Absolute classic by the great Bobby Darin.
Great to hear the theme tune from The Apartment. What a fantastic film that is.
Many thanks Johnny. Brilliant!
Johnny Mac, A Little Night Music on 28 September 2025
Ahh, Martyn. Bobby Darin, Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine: the epitome of cool. Thank you for tuning in and being one of the true Great Early Morning Stalwarts!
Nancy on 27 September 2025
So I’m cutting my husband’s hair and Mack the Knife comes on and I’m telling my husband all the trivia around it – song of the year, Bobby Darin, Threepenny Opera – when my husband asks “But what was the year?” I told him the year and after a moment I asked “Is this the mystery year?’ First time I’ve been right in weeks and not even trying😂😂😂
Johnny Mac, A Little Night Music on 27 September 2025
But, what was the year… that sounds like a catchphrase that only the GEMS would know!
Nancy on 27 September 2025
You had me at Marty Robbins Johnny Mac – GREAT artist of the week!
Johnny Mac, A Little Night Music on 27 September 2025
Hi Nancy. Thank you for your kind message. Marty Robbins is brilliant – a real flamboyant country legend, and it’s a pleasure to celebrate his centenary on SR.
Karen on 24 September 2025
What a great Music While You Work today. I was driving along the bypass, singing along to all the songs we used to do at my dancing school when I was a nipper. It was brilliant. Thank you
Brian Reynolds on 24 September 2025
Jimmy Leach, whose ‘Organolian Quartet’ provided the music today, was one of the show’s most popular contributors. He loved doing the programme and was very sad when it was taken off the air. He appeared on the first day in 1940 and also concluded the original series in 1967
Nick Hingley on 24 September 2025
Music While You Work is the earliest programme I can remember in the Radio Times, mainly because this wee lad learning his ABC read it as ‘muskick’. Though in the latter days of MWYW on the Light Programme I would be tuned to Radio Caroline, I enjoy these half hours these days.
It’s great that so many exist one way or another and I have caught up with them after many years.
Diane Smith on 24 September 2025
If listening to Serenade radio makes lots of other listeners as happy as it makes me then the world must be a happier place! It takes me to another place far away from all the bad in the world, absolutely love it! Such beautiful music which brings back happy childhood memories and of wonderful people, no longer here, that made those times special.
Sam Watt on 24 September 2025
There are so many “avenues” out there today to listen to music. Lots of good ones. But nobody does it better than Serenade Radio. All the presenters are great!
“Shout Outs” to a few of our favorite presenters and their wonderful shows – Andy Marriott, Sonia Beldom, Simon McLean, John Hellings, Johnny Beerling, John Darvall, Mark Steyn, and Kevin Taylor! Fantastic job. RIP Dick Fisher 💜
Sonia Beldom on 24 September 2025
We love a good shout out, Sam. Keep listening and enjoying the station. Sonia x
Nick Hingley on 24 September 2025
Not a presenter or programme not to like on Serenade – and for any radio station that’s a near impossible feat accomplished. And then there are the absent friends: Brian Savin and Dick Fisher whom I remember from youth on BRMB and Beacon Radio respectively, Chris Helme, David Corbett and Patrick Lunt.
David Small on 23 September 2025
Love the music played every morning at 10.00am Just played a favourite of mine Sonia Freight Train by Nancy Whiskey I remember buying that record its on the Oriole Record Label and I still have the recording , Happy memories
Sonia Beldom on 23 September 2025
Happy Memories indeed – great track isn’t it? So lovely to get your comments, David. Sonia x
Christopher on 23 September 2025
Thanks for playing Chas McDevit skiffle group. Nancy Whiskey used to live near me in Loughborough, in fact I knew her when she was a tot!
Sonia Beldom on 23 September 2025
How wonderful – I bet she was a musical child, always singing?
Julia Wilson on 23 September 2025
We are having trouble accessing Serenade Via our Alexa. We have always been able to just say “Alexa Play Serenade Radio” without any trouble but they just they are saying they are having trouble accessing Serenade Radio. We are getting it through Tune in at the moment. Is this something you know about??
Serenade Radio on 23 September 2025
Hi Julia thank you, this is an issue with Amazon and out of our control, we have reported it, now we wait! As you say accessing via Tune-In does work. Unfortunately you may have to sit through a couple of ads but then it will continue ad free. Should be back to normal soon.
Julia Wilson on 23 September 2025
Thank you, all seems to be working again now.
Barry Williams on 23 September 2025
Andy, what a treat to hear ‘The Gasman Cometh ‘ on this mornings bit of nonesense, I’m still smiling, what a clever song. Am I right in thinking that Skellern and Stilgoe once did a version?
Best wishes to all at the station
Barbara Heathcote on 22 September 2025
Hi Andy. I was late on parade tonight but managed to hear Vic Damone thank you. Listening to Spanish Eyes reminded me that many decades ago I had a Wayne Newton LP and he sang Moon over Naples to the same tune. I wonder if you could look it up some time please.
Steve Faber on 22 September 2025
Agree about Roger Whittaker, Sonia. “Somewhere My Love” is my favourite of his. Great music this morning.
Sonia Beldom on 22 September 2025
Glad you’re liking the music – especially our Roger. Thanks for your kind comments. Sonia x
Catherine B on 21 September 2025
Hi Andy – Minnie Caldwell has got it right! Keep up the great work on Serenade.
Randall Riley on 21 September 2025
Harry James and His Orchestra – I Tipped My Hat, vocal was by Art Lund.
Vic Groves on 21 September 2025
Thanks for the information Randall, and thanks for listening. Regards, Vic
Anthony Parkin on 21 September 2025
It’s one of those days… Randall beat me to it. Great show Vic.
Vic Groves on 21 September 2025
Ha Ha Anthony! He was quick off the mark. Thanks for listening and for the kind comment. Regards, Vic
Randall Riley on 20 September 2025
What wonderful music playing tonight on Dinner at Eight! George Chisholm “The Man I Love,” The Syd Dale Orchestra “Sotto Voce,” and Johnny Hawksworth “Fifty-Five Park Lane,” Syd Lawrence “Deep Purple,” amongst many others. It’s always good here at Serenade but tonight’s playlist has been exceptional. Thanks for doing what you do, from a listener across the pond in Austin, Texas!
Simon McLean on 21 September 2025
Thank you, Randall – absolutely delighted you enjoyed the show! More goodies next week!
Susie Roys on 20 September 2025
I absolutely love Mark Steyn’s On The Town! I’ve learnt so much from it – best crafted radio programme I’ve heard in a long time.
Mark Steyn on 20 September 2025
Too kind, Susie. But I thank you, and hope you’ll catch today’s show. We run the gamut from baseball curses to railway legends.
Nancy on 20 September 2025
A Little Night Music with Johnny Mac has been a delight this evening (early morning UK). In the words of ABBA – thank you for the music!
Martyn Bassey on 20 September 2025
I was listening between 3 and 6 o’clock this morning. Absolutely agree with you Nancy. Fabulous music, I especially liked the songs from the mystery years. Many thanks to Johnny Mac 👍
Johnny Mac, A Little Night Music on 20 September 2025
Tis the best time of the day, Martyn! And, I haven’t forgotten your nomination for our artist of the week.
Nancy on 20 September 2025
Leon Redbone used to perform in Santa Cruz when I lived there in the 70s. What a character! What a style!
What an opening set Johnny Mac!
John McAtasney, A Little Night Music on 20 September 2025
Thank you, Nancy. He definitely had a unique style. Great to see you back in the Great Early Morning Stalwarts (GEMS) fold!
Neil Hewitt on 19 September 2025
Just to say how much I have loved the Album of the Week this week! It’s one of my favourites, with every track being absolutely wonderful! Incidentally, it was also re-released here on the World Record Club label as, ‘Around the World in Dixieland’, should anyone be looking to get a copy.
Edgar on 18 September 2025
Good to be home! My only Internet access since late Sunday has been at libraries where to listen to anything I have to use headphones (I think I have to provide my own, which I don’t have), and my time is somewhat limited. I saw two hotels with the Marriott brand, but the music on available radio stations doesn’t live up to the standard I get to have at home.
Dave in London on 17 September 2025
For Andy,
Yes the usual versions of ‘Solitude’ don’t spread the marmalade on the toast for these ears. Fortunately there is an excellent interpretation of the song in French by Serge Reggiani – ‘Ma Solitude’. His 1967 version with guitar and orchestra.
It’s well worth getting a translated copy of the lyrics as this original set of words carries a sad poetic beauty. Written by Georges Moustaki.
He re-recorded it ’79 with piano and orchestra. Some will prefer that later edition as his voice had matured, perhaps better reflecting a contemplative look back on life.
All the best to you.
